A Little History

Around 300 BC this Gemstone was discovered on the Topazios Island (The old Greek name) in the Red Sea, Egypt, today this Island is known as St Johns Island.

During Ancient Times this Gemstone was believed to help keep evil spirits away and because of a suns explosion it was forced and catapulted to Earth carrying the suns healing powers.

Peridot and Diamonds are the only two Gemstones that are created and formed in the Earths Upper Mantle (this extends from the Earths crust and is approximately 225 miles deep, there are two parts to the Upper Mantle called the Lithosphere and Asthenosphere) in Motten Rock and then brought to the surface by  enormous forces from volcanoes and earthquakes.

On the 7th November 1996, Nasa launched the Mars Global Surveyor to the red planet, Mars and via an instrument, the basic form of Peridot called Olivine was discovered, there has also been numerous reports of this mineral found on the Moon.

In 2006 the Stardust Robotic Space Probe brought back to Earth Comet Dust of which also contained Peridot.
