Smoky Quartz is known and recognised as the National Gemstone of Scotland, U.K.
During 300 BC the Celts began mining around the British Isles and found Smoky Quartz in the Cairngorm Mountains that are based in the Scottish Highlands which they then used these Gemstones to create Kilt Pins, Shoulder Brooches and other items of Jewellery.
The Ancient Celts referred to the Smoky Quartz as the Stone of Power because they believed it was symbolic of a dark power from the Earth Goddess's and Gods and this Gemstone became scared to them.
